Nathaniel and Diego are best friends and also happen to be Cousins.
Their mothers wanted a nice simple fall portrait. The trick was to get them to slow down for a photo - the answer is to work faster. :)
These guys were so patient and great to work with!
Strobist info: Nikon D700 set to AP, Nikon 50mm f1.4 G set to 1.4, SB800 set to TTL in a Beauty Dish camera right.

Hiking Mount Seymour with Sunbeams
Before we went hiking, we could see the mountains were shrouded in clouds and looking like it might rain. We needed to get out and I actually like hiking in the rain, the woods smell great and there are fewer bugs. :)
If you are looking for a book on hiking Vancouver, this is nice guide book.

Yoga and the Whale
I took this photo after watching a whale swim by our local beach (Kits Beach). We live a few blocks away from the beach and have a clear view of the Ocean. I noticed a lot of people on the beach and a whale watching boat drifting off shore. That's when I noticed the blow of a whale. We rushed down to see the whale up close. We watched the whale feeding 100 feet from shore for almost 30 minutes before it moved on.
The whale looked so peaceful bobbing up and down feeding, that several people actually got in the water and started swimming towards it. I think they wanted to re-enact the "Jonah and the Whale" story. :) Fortunately, the whale was smart enough to move away as the swimmers approached.
Below is the only photo of the whale (see little blow in the middle of the screen). I accidentally brought a wide angle lens, so this is all I managed to get. :)
Below is a photo of the sunset afterwards. There were lots of photogs on the beach for the whale, so after it left and this amazing sunset started, someone got inspired to do Yoga on a rock.

The beginning
Here's my first blog posting! Since this is the beginning, I should explain what got me motivated to start. There's an amazing wedding / lifestyle photographer Jasmine Star Photography Blog, who I consider to be one of the best - she has taught me a lot about photography and about using social media to connect and share with clients.
Actually I've been "blogging" if you can call it that, for years on Flickr. The Flickr site is great for photos, but I found if I wanted to learn more about the photographer, I had to go to their blogs, which is also why I started blogging.
I plan to post stories and photos of weddings, camping trips, or whatever else is happening in my life.
Sorry if my writing style is a bit formal. I was a computer geek for many years and am used to documenting errors, not life!
Feedback is always welcome. :)
